KARSH HAGAN

protect our parks

protect our parks

A grassroots campaign to protect public lands on a $2K budget.

context

After federal workforce cuts left 1,000 fewer employees caring for national parks, public lands were more vulnerable. While at Karsh Hagan, Darren inspired the creation of a rapid, self-funded response. No client. No media budget. Just urgency.

insight

Coloradans love their parks. They also love their beer. 🤯 By linking the two, we could create an easy, nonpartisan entry point for action rooted in community and everyday ritual.

solution

We launched Protect Our Parks through a grassroots activation called Pints for Parks. Partnering with local breweries, we distributed coasters with QR codes to contact representatives, plus pre-stamped postcards, posters, and stickers. Supporting public lands became as simple as ordering another pint.

impact

Under $2K total budget:

  • 2,500 coasters

  • 1,500 stickers

  • 400 pre-stamped postcards

  • 30 posters across breweries

  • Hundreds of direct constituent messages to Congress.

Proof that a scrappy, self-funded idea can mobilize a community and open the door to larger advocacy.
